Meet Peter!
Want that extra little something on your resume, but not sure how to do it?
On the career side of things we have Peter. When Peter started his Gap year, he was 19 and had rather thought that [he] knew everything about everything . During his gap year, he was told to build a road. Because he did not know how to build the road, he had to figure it out on his own. . It was his responsibility to learn how to build a road, find the supplies, and find a crew to help him build it, though he describes the process to be about as easy as, herding cats . Ten days later, he had built a road, and was extremely proud of it. This experience built his confidence, allowed him to use his wit, and taught him that he in fact did not know everything and found out that he would have to rely on others at times. His year in Zambia taught him invaluable lessons that carried on into his Army experience and career, and her would not be where he is today without it.
The reason this experience is also a great example is because the United States too has any Army, and not only that, we have a workforce, and both may benefit from experiences such as Peter’s. As mentioned before, not everyone learns the same, and on that same thought, not everyone wants or needs to go to college to what they have always dreamed of or that makes them happy. Peter is an excellent example of this. He loved to work hard and organize groups of people to get difficult tasks done, and he later utilized it in his chosen career path.
